Dark Timber Kennels is now offering a way for you to obtain your dream dog. Many of our clients come to us after being frustrated by other kennels and the tedious process of finding the perfect dog. The problem is simple, good dogs are hard to find, even harder to buy when you need a professional grade retriever. So we have decided to offer something new. Let us build you the right dog.

Select Dogs:

Often times Dark Timber Kennels will hold over half of every litter back that we whelp, including the pick of the litter Male and Female. We do this so that we will have dogs to train throughout the year. These dogs are the dogs that we offer as our professional grade platform. If you're honest with yourself, and with us, about what you really want in a dog and what you expect, we can fit you with the right dog.

Guide, Professional Hunter or Serious Hunters,

If you hunt more than a few times a week or with clients, your dog is not just a dog, it's a tool and a showpiece. A vocal, mouthy disobedient dog is just not acceptable and can ruin your hunt and your reputation. Only a select few dogs every year make it to the Professional Grade of dog. These dogs have to have it all. Drive. Trainability. Intelligence. Obedience and a work ethic second to none. If this describes you, we are building your new dog right now. Don't delay. Get in touch with us immediately about a new dog as we only build a few of these magnificent Labradors each year. And lets be honest. Very few trainers in the country understand what you are looking for.

The Cost:

After you choose the right young dog or puppy for you, or let us choose it for you. We will start building your new pup toward your goals. Under this program, we offer a one rate plan for your dog. A set price for the training, boarding, feed bill, bird bill, the whole nine. There are huge advantages to doing it this way. No monthly bills, no additional bills. If your dog is finished at 12 months of age or 18 months of age, there are no additional costs involved. For many clients, it equals out to  a discounted rate on training their new pup. We do this in order to help reduce the overall cost of your new dog and to help assure that your new pup stays on the right track to be the superstar they were in to intended to be! Dogs under this program will stay with us, in training until they are complete. For an Pro Series Gun Dog expect to spend between 10,000 to 15,000 depending on your needs. The fee structure is set as half upfront and half at time of pick up, but can be changed to meet your needs in some cases.

Titles and Tests

Dogs under the PRO DOG program are eligible for both AKC and UKC hunt test titles as well as an Obedience Title.

Things to think about Before you call us:

Get your list together and be specific. Be honest about all of your goals. Think about things like drive, energy level, the type of hunting that you do, how many days a week you hunt, how many retrieves you expect your new dog to do on an average hunt, where you live taking into consideration the heat, cold or ice. And any other factors that are important to you, such as river hunting, pits, blinds, types of hunting, types of clientele and what they will expect in your dog and any other feature or desire you are in need of.
